The Honest Chocolate Cafe Blend was designed to be chocolatey!
It is a utility blend, meaning that it is designed to shine in long, milk-based espresso drinks, while still performing well in espresso shorts.
The blending philosophy follows the Italian espresso tradition, while the roast profile favours a more contemporary approach: holding back the flame a little to preserve the organic acids that carry origin character and provide cleanness, juiciness and balance.
The base essence of the blend is an estate El Salvador, bringing sweetness and layers of cocoa richness, and a superfine robusta from Kabonera in Uganda. Robusta is the integrating force behind the blend; it’s the viola in the orchestra. It adds smoothness and body as well as intensity in milk and a luxurious crema.
The two highlight coffees in the blend are from Colombia and Guatemala. The Colombia adds great body, and mid-palate richness, while the Guatemala is all about chocolate and a clean, balanced acidity. All the coffees in the blend are ethically sourced.
